Brandon Purcell is the Data Science Team Lead at Beyond The Arc, a consultant firm using Data Science in the fields of customer experience, operations and product development. As the Data Science Team Lead, Brandon has utilized analytics processes to identify, track and address customer pain points, and pioneered using Big Data in his analysis of social media data. He is also involved in the creation of predictive analytics and data mining training.

Before joining Beyond The Arc, Brandon spent years as a financial specialist at the American Stock Exchange and Chicago Board Options Exchange, trading all types of securities. He also spent two years in the Republic of Benin as a Peace Corps. Volunteer, and for his commitment to “international business and policy” for research on the Ethiopian Commodities Exchange in Addis Ababa, he was awarded the Clausen Fellowship.

As the Project Manager for the non-profit, Teaching Kids Programming, which aims to introduce kids to data science via fun and engaging Internet of Things environments, Jessica Ellis understands the importance of bridging the gap between young generations and programming.

She was first exposed to the world of computer programming when her sons began to show an interest in creating their own computer programs. With a love for mathematics and statistics, Jessica dove into classes and began teaching them herself, eventually. Alongside fellow BAC speaker Lynn Langit at Teaching Kids Programming, Jessica also has learned to program in Java, and has helped set up classes with the Boys and Girls Club of San Dieguito.

Jessica is teaching PASS Business Analytics Conference attendees what it takes to set up an Internet of Things project, through her case study of using Python courseware to show kids how to connect smarter sensor data from the farm with better food in their stomachs.
