The ABCs of Scoring: Why, How, and Getting a Good Grade [DAV-101]

Speaker(s)Dan Bulos

Duration: 60 minutes

Track: Data Analytics and Visualization

Scoring models are a valuable and popular analytical technique. The FICO credit score used in assessing mortgage qualifications is an example of a scoring application that affects many of us. Whether used in a classic Balanced Scorecard application or as a component of a dashboard, scoring models allow us to combine multiple different data measures to arrive at a single view of the performance of key business success factors such as customers, products, and employees.
This session will look at why scoring models are a valuable tool in business analytics and survey some common examples in a business context. We'll then dive into the details of how to build a scoring model and evaluate the decisions you need to make in building the model.
